Imagination Crafts large Pansy stencil

I just love spring flowers and simply adore the large Pansy stencil from Imagination Crafts.
I've wanted to incorporate textiles, threads and fibres into my mixed media work for a while now and with the shift in crafting habits to fabrics, sewing, knitting etc it seems like the perfect time.
I also wanted to try something different with these large stencils.
The embroidery hoop has been in my stash for ages and I had a supply of calico so decided to use that instead of cross stitch fabric.
I then raided my daughter's embroidery threads and also had some purple wool!
As this is a decorative item and will not be washed I used the regular Starlights in Amethyst, Dried Rose, Canary Yellow and Green. these are such gorgeous colours and you can't help but think of Spring and sunshine when using them with all their wonderful sparkle.
I often use a sponge to apply my mediums through a stencil and this is what I did, masking off areas for different colours as I went along.
I just love how vibrant the Amethyst is for the Pansy, all the colours are gorgeous.
Once dried I used the Butterfly panel  and Falling Leaves panel stencils around the pansy, moving and masking as I went.
Once dried I added the stitching using the embroidery threads and wool.
The hoop was aged using Rusty Patina in Rustique and Verdigris.
I really enjoyed trying something different and creating this project, a lovely idea with Mother's Day coming up.
Thanks for looking today xKx
